#504. Self-Guided Moose Bowhunts in Quebec
Group of 2 Archers Required
Moose are majestic, dark brown animals with prominent, humped shoulders and a large nose. Bulls have a large, flat, wide, heavy set of antlers which rise slightly up and backwards. A mature bull can weigh 1,000 pounds, while a cow weighs about 700-800 pounds. Often, both the bull and the cow have a distinctive piece of skin called a "bell" hanging down under their chins. Every fall, during the mating season, moose become quite vocal. Bulls will answer a hunter's skillful imitation of their mating sounds. This hunt takes place on our 100 kilometer square private territory during the pre-rut of the moose. The territory is bordered by provincial parks and restricted hunting areas. Therefore, the density of the moose population is at its highest. This hunt takes place in Quebec during the bow-only hunting season. Each group of two archers is allowed to bag 1 moose, bull or calf. Bowhunting small game such as spruce grouse, ruffled grouse, ptarmigan and snowshoe hare is also part of this package.
