#314. Hunt monster whitetail deer during the archery season
Many people ask what the best time of year to come up on such a bow hunt is. It has been our experience that each month of the season offers distinct advantages. The early season offers undisturbed deer that are more easily patterned. The later part of the season is conducive to active scrapes and rubs where rattling and calling can be used as an effective method of luring in a trophy buck. Each time of the year is equally as good and hunts can be tailored to meet the needs of any sportsman. We typically hunt from tree stands for Whitetail deer and spot and stalk hunt for Mule deer. The hunter is likely to see his fair share of elk and moose while on stand, which makes for an exciting hunt and never a boring day. On an average Whitetail hunt you can expect an opportunity at 140 to 150 class deer but opportunities at 170 class bucks and bigger are had every year. Mule deer hunters can expect bucks ranging in the 160 to 180 class but bucks grossing over 190 are spotted annually. Our main camp is based on the north side of Chip Lake and consists of wall tents as well as RV trailers.
Upon settling into camp we suggest that our bow hunters dig out their archery tackle and make use of our range which has both field point and broad head targets. Everything in our camp is brand-new and each one of our stands is very secure and comfortable. We take pride in our camps and you can be assured of a clean comfortable stay while enjoying breath taking scenery and some of the best cooking around. The areas we hunt routinely produce world class deer and we live to bow hunt. Good areas, proper stand placement and scent control are critical components to a successful hunt. At Northern Monarchs, we take great measures to ensure it's done right the first time because everyone knows you rarely get a second chance at that buck of a lifetime.
